Any person (coach, assistant coach, volunteer, team manager, referee, board member, concession stand workers and administrators) who comes in contact or interacts with children at any point during the soccer season MUST complete a background check yearly. Background checks expire on June 30th of each year, regardless of when they are submitted. You must renew yearly to work with children in any capacity.
It is important to note that ANYTHING other than a minor traffic ticket must be disclosed. Even if the charge has been expunged or dismissed, you must disclose. The more details provided the quicker the report can be processed. You must also use your full, legal name. Please update your profile to reflect your legal name.
To submit your background check:
Log into your GotSport account and then follow these step-by-step instructions.
Coaches
Coaches cannot be assigned to any team until their background check is current.
Referees
Referees will not be assigned to any games or receive a new or recertification badge until the background check is current. Log into to the US Soccer Learning Center to submit your background check.
Volunteers
If you do not already have an account, you will need to register as either a coach or a manager here.

The CDC Concussion Test is required for all bench officials, including coaches and team managers as well as referees involved in all tournaments, leagues and Events. For Concussion information and state laws, see concussion information under safety resources.
The program will take about 40 minutes to complete. There is mention of a test at the end, but there is not a test. Some people take it 2 to 3 times looking for the test, please don’t do that. What you do want to do is print or take a picture of your completion certificate. The certificate should automatically attach to your GotSport coach or manager account, but sometimes this function does not work and needs to be uploaded manually. If that happens, you will need the certificate saved to your computer so that you can upload it into your account.
To take the concussion course:
Log into your GotSport account and then follow these step-by-step instructions to complete the course and receive your certificate.

SafeSport is completed yearly and Expires on June 30th each year.
To enroll in the SafeSport Program, log into your player, coach or manager account.
When creating your SafeSport account, be sure to use the same email (username) you used for your GotSport account. The SafeSport Program Core Training will take about 90 minutes to complete, the SafeSport Program Refresher Training will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You can start and stop until you complete it. Make sure you understand the directions to exit and restart the program or you will start from the beginning every time.
Once the training is completed, go to “Transcript” to get your most recent certificate. The certificate should automatically be attached to your GotSport player, coach or manager account, but sometimes this function does not work and needs to be uploaded manually. If that happens, you will need the certificate saved to your computer so that you can upload it into your account or send to the Club Manager and she will upload it for you.

US Youth Soccer has implemented a new mandate that all players who are 18 or will be 18 during the fall 2024 or spring 25 soccer season, must fulfil the SafeSport requirement in order to be placed onto a USYS soccer team. The SafeSport requirement is basically watching a risk management video session and answering questions about the risk management video.
Each player must finalize this SafeSport requirement to play. This is a new mandatory requirement enacted by US Youth Soccer. The player has until January 18, 2025 to do the SafeSport requirement or BASC will be unable to place them on a team.
Follow the instructions below to fulfill this requirement.
SafeSport instructions for players Under 18
SafeSport instructions for players 18+
Log into your GotSport Account
Once the SafeSport requirement is fulfilled, BASC will be able to add the player on an official team roster.
We appreciate your assistance with this newly mandated requirement.
